Love these flip flops but run small

It’s North Face quality—they look comfortable and durable and have a nice weight to them, but these run SMALL! My son is an 8.5, I sized up to an 11, and I actually think a 12 or 13 would have been better! That’s FOUR sizes smaller than marked? The funny thing is there is plenty of room at the toe, but his heel is falling off the back. Not sure if I want to buy a size 13 or find a different shoe altogether.

I bought a pair of these last year and fell in love with them. we now have ever color and 3 black pairs. I did notice on the last pair I just purchased the padding is coming apart from the top of the shoe to the bottom. I will be making a call this week to customer service as we love these flip flops and I haven’t had this problem with any of the other ones I purchased.
