I primarily use my Teva Hurricane XLTs for kayaking and trips to the beach. I just got done speaking with Teva customer service concerning my second pair of sandals falling apart (the sole separates) in less than 6 months. The sandals were probably not worn more than 20 times. Very hard to believe that I have had the same failure mode on the same product, and the other reviews don’t reflect that. In the automotive industry, we conducted containment or recalls when we knew defective products had been built and shipped. The gluing or adhesion process is failing, and I can’t believe I happened to be the only person to get the defects, while other customers reported a 4.5 rating. I won’t be purchasing any further TEVA products until someone from their Customer Satisfaction organization can statistically explain how I got two defective pair within 1 year on a 4.5 rated sandal. Interestingly enough, the adhesive failed on both sandals this morning while washing my truck. Sadly amazing.

Teva has really cheaped out on these sandals. Returned them the day they arrived. The straps were so short that when they were on, half of the loop side of the velcro was showing. They need to add another couple of inches to the straps and let the consumer cut them to length. I had a $20.00 pair from Walmart that were better made, and cost a third as much.

Great sandals, perfect for the ocean. No worry about saltwater which is damaging to leather. I normally wear a 14 wide, but have found that I fit a 13 in open toed shoes. These fit my wide feet perfectly, though the three fully adjustable Velcro straps allow a large range of fits. The sole is much beefier than the originals, and offer substantial arch support. I am quite happy with this purchase.

I’ve been wearing Hurricanes for many years now and they are my favorite Tevas and my favorite overall sandals of any brand. I use them everyday in the house so I usually wear them out in 2 years but I have known others to have them last as much as 5 or 6 years depending on how often they wear them. I always keep another pair handy for wearing outside and the beach. I usually take a 12 wide in everything but for some reason I take an 11 in these and they are perfect. Very secure feeling. I find that my regular 12 size in these has too much room past the toes causing me to trip sometimes so I stay away from 12’s. It might be the way I tie the straps, not sure, but I would recommend trying a half size to a full size smaller than usual.
These new Hurricanes have more padding around the heel which is very welcome and I find the 2018 version as excellent overall. Tevas are great and these Hurricanes XLT2s are their best bang for the buck. The strap system is by far one of the best designs out there. They just make sense.

Fit spot on. Not nearly as comfortable or well padded as my old Terra Fi’s. With each iteration of an item, the quality and comfort go down. The straps do not even have neoprene on them; i.e., the rough color-stitched strap rubs the top of the foot.

My expectations from Teva were met! I wear a 10.5 so I originally ordered a size 11; they weren’t way too big but they were a bit big. The 10s fit perfectly. So, that’s the only thing to keep in mind, since they do not do half sizes. Great sandal, comfortable, can get wet and will dry.

They were a gift for my dad but he has very high arch and couldn’t wear them but I can . They just didn’t have my size . I love them , have had Chacos and keens will not go to any other brand but Tevas .

Fit seemed true to size. The material for the most part was ok, and looked like it would dry quickly. The arch support was good for me.
I ordered these 2 pairs to replace a pair of TEVA that are 10+ yrs old, hoping for the same quality of build, material and comfort. I still love the ability to infinitely adjust the straps to fit everyone personally.
Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed in the quality of material and build thoughtfulness. They do not have the same padded connections under the triangles that join the straps, and the plastic seemed like it would not hold up to rough conditions. Definitely lighter weight, but not sure that was a good thing in this case. It might be tough to tell from the pictures, but I tried to show these points by putting the new next to the old ones.
If you’re new to TEVA, I think you’ll like them. They still do what you want.
It is possible that my expectations were too high, as nothing is what it used to be.
They will go back. 🙁

The mens sizes fit better. I order first in the women’s size 9 but still was bit tight. Second pair are mens size 8 and are wonderful.

I purchased my first Teva’s 25 years ago. They were the original model. In all those years they NEVER showed signs of wear on the bottoms. I have camped and canoed in them every year since purchase. Eventually the footbed of the sandal tore by the back strap so it was time to get new ones. Not bad for 25 years! After researching the website I decided to upgrade to the Hurricane. They are even more comfortable than the originals! I’m sure these will last just as long. Teva has a great product! If you have never owned a pair, get online and order a pair! They’re versatile, look sharp, are comfortable and last forever. What more could you want?

When younger, I served as a river rafting guide for Friends of the River. I needed a pair of sandals that would strap on and stay on, under sometimes “challenging” conditions … from muddy banks of rivers to white water rapids. I found a pair of Teva’s that were perfect and was oh-so-happy. Those sandals lived on my feet. Well, years and years later, the soles finally wore thin and I had to replace them. Oh, no! They had been discontinued ages ago. So I panicked. Then I went online and looked and looked and looked. I finally found the Hurricane XLT2’s and ordered them. I have just received them, and I am happy again!! I no longer guide rafts in white water (I am now 65 years old!), but could and would if I were guiding. Now, they are wonderfully comfortable sandals for everything, including hiking and everything else I still do. Get a pair and enjoy!!

This sandal is great for both walking around town and for hikes. It sits perfectly in the middle category to handle all types of terrains. Support and cushioning are great and was able to sustain my feet/legs through a 3 hour hike. No hot spots of running. Also comes in many different styles so there will likely be one that works for you. Highly recommend.

Size and fit were good. I have had Teva sandals in the past and have got very long life out of them and really liked them. But on the pair I most recently purchased in July of last year the left sandals bottom separated from the sole of the sandal. These sandals have not seen a lot of use so I was very surprised and disappointed that these sandals failed so soon.

Super cute, but I’ve got a raging blisters on the sides of my feet from the toe straps. They just don’t feel as comfortable as I remember my old Teva’s being. I was looking for something to go tidepooling with my kids that had traction and the ability to get wet. I love saltwater sandals, but they just don’t have any traction, so I wanted something different. Kind of disappointed that these are so uncomfortable in an area that seems like it should be fine.

These shoes are ridiculously comfortable and I think on the verge of becoming the next big trend. I will say I think they verge on the bigger side of sizes, so I would round down. But if they are bigger, no worries, the straps can be manipulated to make them fit better.

Moved to Boulder, CO and figured these would be standard issue. They weren’t. So I picked these up to spend time on the river and for day hiking. Truth be told, I bought these 100% for the retro colorway, but after fiddling with the straps, they fit comfortably and are now my go-to footwear choice when heading out the door.

I spent a week in Egypt walking in the desert and along the rocks of the ruins and pyramids. The whole time my feet were cushioned in the sandals. It felt almost as if I wasn’t walking on rocks at all. They are extremely comfortable.

Disappointed –
Having enjoyed two previous sandals of this design, I was ready to order a replacement. I was happy with the similar look of this new sandal, but after wearing them for two days I had six open sores on my feet. The reason? The new (identical) design didn’t have the previous padding on the underside of the nylon straps that the predecessors had. I can’t wear them and wasted my money.

These sandals have been amazing then and they are just as amazing now.
I walked cobbled streets in Mexico with no issue at all.

This is my second pair of these sandals. They are very sturdy and comfortable. The first day I wore them, I walked in them all day. There was no “breaking in” period and they were immediately comfortable. They are my favorite sandals.
